EXCLUSIVE: We think we have found Bangkok’s cheapest condo for sale.
But, whether you want to buy one, or even live there, is another question entirely.
More than 30, 28 sqm units are for listed for sale at a project called Krungsiam Grand Condo (pictured) in the Mueng district in Pathumthani province – close to the Rangsit area on the far edges of suburban Bangkok.
The units on various floors in the five buildings that form part of the development are for sale through Sinsuptawee Asset Management.
The price – only THB 80,000 for each condo (or GPB 1,820, US$ 2,545. EUR 2,050, S$ 3,350).
That’s less than almost all new Bangkok developments are charging per square metre anywhere else in the city, with many new developments in central Bangkok now commanding price tags of up to THB 350,000 per sqm.
There’s a reason why the price for what we believe is Bangkok’s cheapest condo is so low. These units are almost certainly in poor condition and are the subject of of-performing loans in one form or another.
You can see from the picture that the building itself looks in extremely poor condition, so we can only wonder what the units themselves look like?
It’s also miles from any of the increasingly popular mass-transit lines, current and planned.
These units will certainly be available for non-Thai buyers, but unless you can read Thai or know someone who can, you will not normally get to see or hear about them.
There are thousands of similar properties for sale throughout Bangkok, and more widely in Thailand, through asset management companies but almost none take the time to make English language marketing material for them.
This is certainly an extreme example, but it proves you can find cheap property in Bangkok if you search hard enough.
