Construction and real estate firms led the new companies that were launched in Thailand during February 2018.
The number of new companies registered with the Department of Business Development last month was recorded at more than 6,300, an 11 percent rise compared with the same month in 2017.
This rise was attributed to the improving Thai economy, according to a statement from the Public Relations Department of the Royal Thai Government.
The Director-General of the Department of Business Development, Kulanee Itsadisai, said the number of new companies launched during February was mainly due to the confidence of entrepreneurs in the Thai economy, and the government’s economic stimulus measures.
Economic stimulus packages resulted in the highest number of new firms being formed in the construction sector, followed by real estate, logistics and transportation sectors, she added
She also expressed her confidence that this year’s number of new companies will be higher than the department’s target of 75,000.
More than 690,000 company incorporations exist in Thailand.
