Property buyers from Myanmar eye Bangkok condos

Property buyers from Myanmar will be offered prime central Bangkok condo units at a property exhibition next month.

Having already showcased Whizdom 101, Muniq and Marque, Singapore-based real estate firm SQFT Global Properties will be offering units at 28 Chitlom (pictured) to property buyers at a property exhibition in mid-November.

Hnin Ei Lwin, Head of Myanmar Operations, said: “We mainly target Myanmar nationals who are willing to have their own properties abroad.”

“As it only takes an hour to fly from Yangon to Bangkok, we are fully aware that many people want to possess their own luxury apartments to ensure convenience during their visit to the neighbouring country.”

Luxury units at 28 Chidlom, a high-rise condo project in downtown Bangkok, will open for sale to Myanmar buyers during the second week of November.

Construction began last November and is expected to be completed during May 2020.

Myanmar property buyers need a cash deposit of 5 percent in cash with another 10 percent due within the next 18 months.

The balance is paid upon completion of the project.

Two different buildings – The Tower and The Villa – are being developed as part of the 28 Chidlom project, however only units from The Villa will be available to Myanmar customers because ones from The Tower are already sold.

Although no indication was given about the level of sales from past events, prior to the previous property exhibitions the real estate firm had targeted sales of 20 condos.

Perhaps the only question about this is why does it take a Singapore real estate firm to market a Bangkok condo project in Myanmar? I’m sure there are many capable ones based in Thailand.
